Basel 21-year-old striker Thierno Barry is set to join Villarreal in the near future. Ufabet reported on Saturday that Villarreal are in talks with Basel over a fee to bring Thierno Barry to bolster their attack this summer after reaching personal terms with the player. 

Villarreal are looking to add more attacking reinforcement after selling Alexander Sørloth to Atletico Madrid, although they have already signed Ayoze Perez from Villarreal for €4m.

The Yellow Submarine were previously link with a move for Getafe’s 27-year-old striker Borja Mayoral, but the player’s fitness issues forced him to drop plans to sign him and move on to other targets. 

Villarreal have previously tried to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko and Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana, but have failed to make progress, but the Yellow Submarine are now on the verge of signing 21-year-old Basel striker Barry.

Barry, for his part, is a 21-year-old attacker who generally operates in a centre-forward role. But is also capable of taking to the pitch on either wing.

After something of a breakout campaign with Basel last time out. Which saw him rack up 12 goals and five assists. Barry has since absolutely exploded over the early weeks of the new Swiss season.

Remarkably, in four appearances to date, the youngster has found the net on no fewer than eight occasions.
